Beauty And The Beast Benefit

The Ricky Graham, Fred Palmisano children's operetta, which predates ALW's bloated adaptation of this classic fairy tale by several years and is being revived by Edward Cox for Le Petit's Children's Corner, will begin with a preview and party to benefit the Fred J. Palmisano UNO Scholarship fund on Friday, May 16 at 7 pm in the Le Petit Theatre lobby, hosted by playwright and "Freddy Friend" Sharon O'Brien.

Admission is by donation and all proceeds go directly to the scholarship.

Food and refreshments will be provided along with performances by many local theatrical stars. The party will coincide with the release of Freddie's new CD, Do You Know What It Means. In addition, Mr. B's Bistro and Absolut Vodka will be presenting a new cocktail, "Absolut Freddie," which will mark the only occasion that "Absolut Freddies" will be made available outside of Mr. B's Bistro.

CD Release, "Do You Know What It Means"
Sponsored by Mr. B's Bistro and Absolut Vodka

Mr. B's Bistro and Absolut Vodka hosted a CD release party recently at Mr. B's Bistro to launch the release of "Do You Know What It Means," a CD comprised of the works of New Orleans own, Freddie Palmisano.

Freddie Palmisano For Freddie, a gifted composer and pianist who performed regularly at Mr. B's Bistro, life ended much too early in 1990 at the age of 45, due to complications from AIDS.

As a close friend of Freddie and owner of Mr. B's, Cindy Brennan orchestrated the making of "Do You Know What It means" and collaborated with Absolut Vodka to donate 100% of the proceeds to the NO/AIDS Task Force.

The CD is a fitting tribute to the life and personality of Freddie Palmisano. His music represents the true sounds of New Orleans which Freddie loved to share with so many people.

The CD release party, held at Mr. B's, featured a signature cocktail, "Absolut Freddie," and Chef Michelle McRaney prepared hor d'oevres characteristic of Mr. B's "Contemporary Creole Cuisine." Ricky Graham, Becky Allen and Harry Mayronne, Jr. performed tunes Freddie was so known for.

"Do You Know What It Means" can be purchased for $25.00 at Mr. B's Bistro, the NO/AIDS Task Force and participating Earthsavers locations. Mr. B's will also feature sample tunes from the CD on its website, http://mrbsbistro.com

Should Chrysler Sponsor "Ellen?"

Chrysler Corporation decided not to run advertisements during the April 30 television episode of "Ellen." However, they are taking a poll on what the public thinks they should do regarding CONTINUING sponsorship of the show. You can call to let them know that you think they SHOULD RETAIN THEIR SPONSORSHIP, simply by dialing 1.800.992.1997.

When you get through, go through the first list of options (party's ext. #, etc.) and stay on the line "for an operator." You will then be offered another list of options. Press 1 for their Media/PR line; 2 for their "Ellen" line; and finally 2 to DISAGREE with withdrawal of sponsorship from the show.

You don't talk at any time; your vote is recorded when you press the second 2. It's EASY, FAST and FREE.

Let's do our part because the conservatives are calling in too!
