Fire at American Townhouse

The New Orleans Fire Department responded to a fire early this morning at American Townhouse, 1012 N. Rampart Street. The fire broke out around 2:30am in the kitchen at the rear of the building. The second alarm fire was under control within an hour.  The bar was closed at the time and there were no injuries. According to NOLA.com, an earlier fire occurred on the exterior stairwell three hours earlier. NOFD was not called out for that first fire, which owner Matt Giglio extinguished himself. Patrons were cleared out of the bar at the time of the earlier fire. NOFD reports extensive damage to the rear of the building but state it’s not a total loss.
